What it means by Emotional Detachment?

Life has a funny way of putting us in different situations throughout its course. Anytime you are faced with a situation, be it happy or unhappy, look at it keeping your emotions aside.

Our generation and the generation before us, have had conditioning that does not involve learning to see the moment for what it is. We are very quick to respond on the biases of the emotions we feel. These emotions are like colored and sometimes blurred lenses. They prevent you from seeing the truth and only allows you to see through a wall of conditions and filters.

This does not mean you must not have any emotions. Emotions are a very big character of being a human. It’s something we’ve had since birth. It’s emotions that allows empathy. It Js human emotions and hence humanity.

They are simply an individuals response based on how the situation made Them “feel”. By “Them” I’m referring to the physical body. To elaborate, imagine how you feel when you are angry, you body reacts to your anger before you respond. Your muscles get tight, your breath becomes fast. This simulation in your body is what causes you to react a certain way, that’s how we recognize these bodily sensations. When you are happy and elevated, your body feels a different sensation and responds differently. It’s your body first and emotions after.

The idea here is to detach these two and be in the moment for what it really is. Take a few seconds to identify and respond rather than repeating troublesome behaviors.

The reality of the moment might be very different in your universe as compared to the person standing next to you. Today one may have conditioned or rewired to see a depressing moment as an opportunity for self grown and the other might be conditioned to blame and self pity. The key is to recognize this self destructing response and rewire to really break negative patterns. It is about being aware.

It requires a lot of practice to train your mind to see the moment as it is. And then allow emotions to tell you how you feel. Our higher self is suppressed deep within all these pre conceived notions of life, which are embedded in your mind or system as a result of your surroundings ever since you were born.

“Be where you are, otherwise you will miss your life.”

- Buddha

Allow life to flow as it is, rather than causing resistance. And see it for what it is and keep doing your best at every event life throws at you. It’s like magic. You’ll very pleasantly surprise yourself.
